Franticham’s Los Angeles Palm Trees

Franticham is a portmanteau-like name derived from the artists Francis Van Maele from Ireland and Antic- Ham from Seoul.

The pages of the book are screenprinted from photographs taken in L.A. in 2013 and 2014 and printed on 250gr BFK Rives paper. The book has a Perspex front cover.

Like Ed Ruscha’s eye, Franticham observes the world of Los Angeles, but here there is a visible Pop-like joie de vivre, spontaneity and sense of colour totally at odds with Ruscha’s banal photo essays.
